In Nigeria, its very much Mandatory for Senior Secondary School education to end on the WASSCE which one can not qualify for without the Junior Secondary School which are sometimes free and very much compulsory. The secondary school education leads to the BECE, which opens the door to Senior Secondary School education. The senior secondary curriculum is then based on 6 core courses to completed by at least 2 or 3 elective subjects. The Core subjects include: Mathematics, English, Economics, a major native language; an elective out of chemistry, biology, integrated science or physics, one elective out of food and nutrition history, social studies or geography ; agricultural science or a vocational subject which includes: Commerce, , technical drawing, English Literature or fine arts.

When a student is done with the BECE , he or she is now fully qualified to join a technical college. This curriculum also offers 3 years and at the end, will lead to a
craftsmanship or trade certificate

The country of Nigeria is directly made up of  about thirty-six states in total including the Federal Capital Territory. In each and every state in the federation, there are at least two Federal Government Colleges. These institutions are
managed and funded directly through the Federal Government via the Ministry of Education. Usually, the staffs, teachers and workers are special Federal Government employees. Each teacher at the Federal Government schools most possess at least a bachelor's degree in Education or in a said subject area, such as, Economics, Physics etc. These schools are  usually known as model schools in the Nigerian system , carrying and maintaining the significant ideals of secondary education for other Nigerian students. Here, admission is specifically based based on merit due to its high standards, usually determined by the National Common Entrance Examination compulsory for all final year pupils in elementary school . Monetary requirements like tuition and funds are usually very low, could be approximately sixteen thousand naira as most of the funding comes from the Federal Government.

Secondary schools owned by state government are usually funded by each state government although they mist times can't be matched with Federal government colleges. Although the primary agenda is  that education be  free in the majority of the state owned schools and institutions, students are required to get basic school materials like books, uniforms and pay for and purchase other  things which on a long run in a year could cost them an average of about thirty thousand naira ($200) in an academic year. State-owned teachers in these institutions are usually  required to have at most National Certificate of Education or a bachelor's degree, although this is never the case.
