Nigerian troops have reportedly captured a
high ranking militant foreman Victory Benjamin.
As stated by Sani Kukasheka Usman (the military
spokesperson), this achievement was attained in Cross Rivers state as the
militant was trying to collect ransom from a relation of a kidnap victim.
According to the statement issued on Saturday, the 17th
of September, the Colonel wrote:
“Troops of 13 Brigade, 82 Division, Nigerian Army, have in a
coordinated operation arrested a suspected high ranking militant kingpin Mr.
Victory Benjamin (aka Abuja Daddy and G3) and 3 others.

“The foreman was arrested at Saint Joseph Hospital, Ikot Ene
junction, Akpabuyo Local Government Area of Cross Rivers State while attempting
to collect ransom from one of their kidnap victim’s relations. “In a similar
development, troops of the same formation have also arrested three militants
with locally made pistol and some explosives while robbing victims around
Refugees Camp at Efut Isigi in Bakassi Local Government Area, Cross Rivers
State.

“At
the same time, troops have roped off the residents of the most wanted militant
kingpin, AKA G1 still at large, as already the arrested militants known as “G2”
and “G3” are providing the necessary information that would help the military
in tracking other militants in the region.” Earlier on, the Nigerian Army
announced the discovery of large cache of ammunitions in Maiduguri, capital
city of Borno, just days after the state enjoyed a peaceful Sallah celebration. Colonel
Usman revealed this in a statement released on Saturday, September 17, stressing
that the ammunition belonged to Islamist sects, Boko Haram.
