WAEC/NECO Withheld Kano State Results See Why.

The Kano state government has arrived at an agreement with the Governing Boards of National Examinations Council (NECO) and West African Examinations Council (WAEC)  to release the withheld results of students of public schools in the state.

Hajiya Hadiza Habib,the Deputy Director, Public Relation Department of the state Ministry of Education  in a statement hinted that the state was aware of the difficulties experienced by candidates in accessing their results.

Habib called on both parents and students to remain calm and law-abiding, addressing that the anxiety already created by the inability to access Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) results of their wards is understandable.

The Permanent Secretary in the ministry Malam Danlami Garba, has also appealed to affected students and parents to exercise patience as effort is being made to release the withheld results.

It would be recalled that WAEC which released the result of its examination recently, had up till now not released the results of all public schools in debtor states.

The upshot has also affected students who paid the examination fees for themslves through the state government. Fracas and tension had continued to rise since then in the affected debtor states that cut across the country.

Meanwhile, the Ekti State government is relishing in the lightness of best performance in the National Examination Council (NECO) result released on Saturday said it was deserved and earned.

Mr. Jide Egunjobi (the state Commissioner for Education), addressing a news conference in Ado-Ekiti over the weekend, said that the achievement resulted from some radical measures taken by the government.

According to him, the steps though uncomfortable were meant to change the face of education in the state, including the cancellation of free WAEC and NECO registration fees for students.

He reiterate that the emergency Education Summit mustered by the Mr. Ayo Fayose, the state governor, shortly after inauguration revealed that payment of examination fees by past administrations was part of the indulgences responsible for past failures.

He further hinted that though the decision to cancel the fee was painful initially, the state’s best performance among the 36 states of the federation showed that discipline and hard work had really paid off. Speaking on the 96.31 per cent recorded by the state, he stated that the achievement would be celebrated in a special way by the government of the state to serve as impetus to teachers and students, and would be maintained for a long time.
